Generating and changing shapes is time-consuming and labor intensive

The tool can review more than tens of thousands of design alternatives in a short period of time, such as a few days, which would be impractical to do manually.

Product evaluation metrics are complex.

Optimization indices can be flexibly specified by the user, allowing for complex performance evaluations.

We don't want the proposed shape to be unmanufacturable in practice.

The geometry can be repeatedly generated, modified, and optimized, with constraints placed on the geometry to keep it within the limits of actual manufacturing.
